A Snug Safety alternative with two free daily check-ins
Snug Safety is a well-established daily check-in app for iPhone and Android. Its free plan includes one daily check-in, with extra check-in times and a dispatcher service available for a fee. Heyimokay is a free Android app with two check-in windows a day and alerts by text message and email to up to six people. If you want a professional dispatcher or an iPhone app, Snug is the better fit; if you want two daily check-ins free on Android, Heyimokay is.
What Snug offers
According to Snug’s help center:
- Free plan: one daily check-in time, reminders by text message and push notification, and text alerts to your emergency contacts when you miss a check-in.
- Extra check-in times: available on the free plan as a paid add-on.
- Snug Dispatch (paid subscription): after a missed check-in, a dispatcher calls you to rule out a false alarm, calls your contacts if they can’t reach you, and can request a wellness check on your behalf. It includes up to three daily check-in times.
Snug runs on both iPhone and Android. Prices and plans change, so check the current details in the Snug app or on its website.

Why two check-ins a day
With one check-in a day, a problem that starts after the morning check-in may not be noticed until the next morning. A second, evening window shortens that gap: if something happens during the day, the circle hears about it that evening rather than the next day. Heyimokay includes both windows for free, and the person checking in chooses the times.
When Snug is the better choice
- The person checking in uses an iPhone. Heyimokay is Android only for now.
- You want a professional dispatcher to follow up on missed check-ins and request a wellness check, rather than relying on family and friends.
- You’re comfortable with one check-in a day, or happy to pay for more.
When Heyimokay is the better choice
- The person checking in has an Android phone.
- You want two check-ins a day for free, with a reminder before each window closes.
- You’d like up to six people to hear at the same time, by text and email, so the nearest one can act first.
- You prefer an app that doesn’t use location, with a short, plain privacy policy.
Whichever you choose, neither is an emergency service. If falls or sudden emergencies are a real risk, read our comparison of medical alert systems and check-in apps. To try Heyimokay, see how it works or follow the install guide.
